Tampakan, South Cotabato - Sagittarius Mines, Inc, (SMI) on February 9, 2024, provided immediate relief assistance to the families affected by a recent rain-induced landslide in Barangay Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro.
SMI Corporate Affairs Manager Roy D. Antonio led the disaster response mission to deliver PhP300,000-worth of disaster relief items, including rice, canned goods, noodles, milk/coffee, and water, benefiting approximately 200 affected residents and families.
The SMI team travelled 500 kms by land from Polomolok, South Cotabato to Barangay Nueva Visayas in Mawab, Davao de Oro, to turn-over the said relief items to Apex Mining Co. Inc., for re-packing and distribution to the evacuees and families of the victims.
We were saddened to learn of the impact of the landslide and express our condolences to the affected families of the residents and employees of Apex Mining. It is during these tragic moments when Pinoy solidarity and Pusong Minero – helping those in need, when needed, wherever needed – come together. Even though we are not yet operating, we mobilized our limited resources to support the relief operations in Maco,” said Mr. Antonio.
