She also said that, with the support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his Cabinet in creating an enabling environment for responsible mining activities to flourish in the country and be the driver for economic recovery and long-term growth, DTI is "recognizing the presence of SMI" in the region and is looking forward to more engagements and partnerships with the company.

Specifically, Regional Director Gabunales cited the mining company for being part of the development of the local bamboo industry in its host communities, especially in the town of Tampakan, South Cotabato.

"I would really like to thank SMI for being a part doon sa development ng ating bamboo industry, especially sa Tampakan. Dahil sa initiative na iyon, nagkaroon tayo ng SSFs (Shared Service Facilities) on bamboos para magamit naman natin iyong ginawa nating bamboo buffer zones," Director Gabunales said. (30)
