SMI donates handheld thermal scanners to South Cotabato, other Host LGUs

Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) donated handheld thermal scanners to the local governments in South Cotabato and within the Project area to support their efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“As a responsible stakeholder and development partner, we at SMI will always support, within our limited resources, our host LGUs whenever our help is needed.”

“We provided disaster relief goods, trapals and other forms of assistance to those who were affected by past major calamities in Mindanao and recently to those affected by the major earthquakes in October last year.

“We will assist them again in their efforts to fight COVID-19,” said Mr. Joselito Kakilala, SMI’s Community Relations manager.

SMI procured 50 handheld, no-contact thermal scanners and 13 multi-purpose tents to help improve the capability of LGUs within the province and its host LGUs to screen, detect, isolate and quarantine anyone who may be COVID-19 positive.

The thermal scanners and tents were distributed during the first week of April through the respective provincial governments of the ten municipalities of South Cotabato and the three other municipalities hosting the Tampakan Project: Malungon in Sarangani; Kiblawan in Davao del Sur; and Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.
