Field Trial Research Stations

The Tampakan Field Trials and Research Station (FTRS) was established in 2005 primarily to raise environmental and biodiversity awareness within the community, and has since been playing an important role in managing the project’s reforestation program. The main FTRS has been transferred to the Liberty Core Farm that is now home for the following:

  • Six species of stick insects, including Ophicrania sagittarius, the species named after Sagittarius Mines, Inc. in recognition of the company’s biodiversity program that conserves stick insects;
  • Three species of butterfly;
  • Vermiculture that produces organic fertilizer;
  • Bee colonies for apiculture that produce honey and bee pollen; and
  • Nursery of endemic and high value fruit trees.
