We aim to operate a safe workplace that is injury and fatality-free through a strong focus on occupational health and safety.
We provide visible leadership and our management is accountable for safety performance and for ensuring employees have the knowledge and skills required to perform their work safely. We encourage employees to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of their colleagues. We encourage them to extend this behaviour to within their own homes and communities.
We implement a combined Heath, Safety and Environment Management System in line with Xstrata plc’s Sustainable Development Framework. This management system comprises a policy, standards and procedures which can be cross mapped to ISO140001.
We are proud of our work in creating a robust health and safety culture. Our efforts in this area were most recently recognized by the Philippine Government’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Safest Mine Award for 2010 (exploration category).
We also received the Award of Distinction from the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI) for achieving five million man hours without lost time due to an injury.
